Westfield Antique Show

Dates: 10 a.m.-4 p.m., July 20 & 10 a.m.-3 p.m., July 21, 2024.

About: The annual Westfield Antique Show continues its tradition of presenting a variety of dealers and their collections in a new location. The move to a larger facility enables more dealers to participate in the show, which began in 1938. Furniture, glassware, silver, jewelry, books, art, clothing, and unique collectables by regional dealers will be displayed. The show is sponsored by the Chautauqua County Historical Society.

Admission: $10 per person or $15 per couple

CCHS Annual Meeting:
The McClurg Family And Its Influence

Date: Saturday, April 20, 2024, 10 a.m.

About: The continuing influence James McClurg has on Westfield and the region will be illustrated as part of the Chautauqua County Historical Society’s annual meeting.

The meeting, which begins at 10 a.m., and the program, presented by CCHS trustee Michelle Henry, is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

CCHS members will elect new board members during the meeting.

William Seward & His Reemergence

Date: Saturday, October 21, 202310 a.m.

About: William Seward’s return to politics after living in Chautauqua County would see him rise to a meteoric level: governor, U.S. senator, almost-President, and Secretary of State. Jeffrey Ludwig, education director at the Seward House Museum, will present a program on Seward, a pivotal individual in American history.

About: McClurg Museum will be decorated for the holidays to help celebrate Christmas in Westfield weekend festivities. Feel free to tour the museum and savor sweet treats during our open house.

About: Celebrating its 84th anniversary this year, the show showcases furniture, glassware, jewelry, art, linens, and unique collectables by 20 regional dealers.

CCHS Celebrates Milestones In June

Date: Saturday, June 10, 2023 | 6 p.m.

About: CCHS will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the completion of the McClurg mansion and the 140th anniversary of the historical society during its annual gala. Dinner and refreshments are served from 6-8 p.m.

August Program Features Civil War Letters

Date: Thursday, August 24, 2023 | 5:30 p.m. potluck dinner, 6:30 p.m. program

About: Author and historian Rick Barram will present Writing for Home: A Chautauqua Soldier’s Messages from War.

The program, free and open to the public, begins with a potluck dinner. Guests are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service.

Barram’s program is based on his book, Dear Uncles, The Civil War Letters of Arthur McKinstry, a Soldier in the Excelsior Brigade.

CCHS Annual Meeting & Featured Program

Date: Saturday, April 15, 2023 | 10 a.m.

About: The Chautauqua County Historical Society will hold its annual meeting and a special presentation on the Barcelona Lighthouse . Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.

Location: Lakeshore Assembly of God Church, 252 E. Main St., Westfield

Following election of new CCHS board members and a short presentation of reports, CCHS president Cristie Herbst will outline the historic circumstances that made Barcelona a bustling commercial port on the Great Lakes until the unthinkable happened.

Herbst’s mother’s family, the Jackways, were Great Lakes commercial fishermen operating out of Barcelona for four generations.

Westfield Historical Cemetery Tour

Sponsored by the Chautauqua County Historical Society, Lakeshore Center for the Arts, Patterson Library, & the Westfield Cemetery Assn.

Date: September 23 & 24 | Timed tours begin at 6 p.m. Last tour begins at 9 p.m.

About: Tour the Westfield Cemetery either on a horse-drawn carriage or guided walking tour. Watch history come alive with first person interpretations of people from Westfield’s history. Enjoy complimentary warm cider, Johnson Estate wines, and cookies.

Location: Westfield Cemetery, 91 Academy St., Westfield.

Information & Tickets: Carriage tours are $20 per person and leave both evenings at 6, 7, 8, and 9 p.m. (Limited seating)

Walking tours are $15 per adult and $5 per child. Friday tours are available at 6:15, 6:45, 7:15, 7:45, and 8:15 p.m. Saturday tours are available at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m.

An Evening With The Lincolns

About: Annual gala to raise funds for CCHS programs will feature portrayals of President Abraham Lincoln and his wife. Elegant hors d’oeuvres and beverages served. The event coincides with the 9th NY Cavalry’s Civil War encampment weekend in Moore Park.

Annual Westfield Antique Show

Sponsored by the Chautauqua County Historical Society

Dates: July 16, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and July 17, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

About: The show features furniture, glassware, silver, jewelry, books and more by several antique dealers. First organized in 1938, the show is a tradition in the Chautauqua region. 

Location: Eason Hall, 23 Elm Street, Westfield

Admission: $5 for both days

Parking: Municipal lot on Elm St. (within half a block of Eason Hall). Free street parking is available on all streets surrounding Moore Park at the corner of Rts. 20 and 394.
